Tasting Notes

Intense floral nose of toast & oriental spices. It is dense & full in the mouth with pear & quince flavours & some distinct oak character. The finish is very rich with complex fruit flavours.

Vinification Details.

Jean-Pierre ferments only free-run juice with wild yeasts. The 1er cru are aged 40-70% new barrels depending on the character of the wine & vintage. SO2 is used as little as possible, and Jean-Pierre relies on CO2 as an anti-oxidant. The wines are kept on their lees as long as possible.

Jean-Pierre Latour has 11ha of prime Meursault real estate and an envious range of plots in some of the top 1er Crus.. If you are after big names to impress your mates then this isn't the domaine for you, if you care more about the liquid than the label then get stuck in. You won't be disappointed.

Regional info.

The Latour-Giraud estate has been established in the village of Meursault for many generations. In the 1990s, with the arrival of the genial and perfectionist current winemaker, Jean-Pierre Latour, the estate has undergone what La Revue des Vins de France has called a "true cultural revolution."
