The best place to grow Godello is without any doubt Valdeorras, on the slate soils along the Sil River Valley. Other examples of Godello are available from Monterrei and Bierzo, but none of them have the freshness, finesse and minerality of the wines from the original home of Godello.
A Coroa is a stunning winery in the heart of Valdeorras, built on the foundations of a Roman camp, where they use the walls of a medieval chapel to house the fermentation area, with a wood and natural slate roof all built into a grassy hilltop. Here the team create complex, elegant and intense examples of one of Spain’s finest varieties, packed full of mature fruit flavours, the wines of A Coroa are big, very fresh, with fantastic acidity.
