Bodegas Castro Martin stands proudly as a family business still managed on a day-to-day basis by the descendants of its original founder, Domingo Martin. The Martin family had been making wine for generations, albeit on a comparatively small scale, until 1981 when Domingo decided to build a larger, more high-tech facility in the shape of the current bodega. It was the first in the region to be equipped with stainless steel tanks and produced its first vintage some six years before the denomination of Rias Baixas was even created.
Today the business is managed by Domingo’s daughter, Angela, and her husband Andrew McCarthy. Angela is also the winemaker and a member of the official tasting panel that controls the quality of all wines produced within the DO Rias Baixas.
