Chateau Canon Chaigneau

The history of Chateau Canon Chaigneau can be traced as far back as Roman times, where vines were cultivated on the same clay, limestone and iron soils. Today, it is independently run and owned by London-born wine merchant Romik Arconian and his viticulturist partner, Marine Fentanane. Mindful of the important historic legacy, they keep close ties with the previous owners who have passed on their own knowledge and remain an integral part of the winery’s management.

Nestled on the eastern side of the Lalande-de-Pomerol appellation on the Neac Plateau, and just to the north of the Pomerol Plateau, the chateau sits on the highest point benefitting from exceptionally deep soils which run down to the water table. Neighbouring some of
Bordeaux’s most well-known estates, the outstanding terroir shines through in the wines. Chateau Canon Chaigneau’s Maitre de Chai, Thierry Garnaud crafts the Grand Vin, as well as the newest creation, Cuvee 8a, using the expertise and passion he developed while working at Cheval Blanc, between 1988 and 2018. Over the years he has developed a unique style in his winemaking, but most importantly he adopts a minimal intervention approach that still adheres to traditional methods.
