This vineyard has a long history, first established in the 16th century by the Marquis de Causans, who named the Domaine St Jacques in remembrance of his son of the same name.
Now, it is run by the Du Temple Quirion family since 2007, who work tirelessly with several professionals to produce quality wine.
The estate is located in the heart of the coast Chalonnaise in Burgundy, and covers nearly 30ha, five of which were planted with six grape varieties in 1999 and 2000. In 2009, the cultivated area was increased to 8ha by adding Pinot Noir, Pinot Gris, Riesling, Chardonnay and more.
The domaine has spent years perfecting its farming methods, and the team go to great lengths to maintain the right climate for the vines, protecting them from the cold weather. The soil is mostly clay and limestone, and the grapes are vinified and then matured in concrete.
Sustainability and respect for the environment is very important to Domaine St Jacques, with the winery having been certified organic by Ecocert since 2012.
