In the small region of Fruili in north eastern Italy lies La Roncaia, an estate run by the Fantinel family since 1998. The region is very close to the borders of Veneto, Slovenia and Austria, and is renowned for its abundance of indigenous varietals that produce amazingly light and aromatic white wine. La Roncaia is still familyoperated, with third generation Marco Fantinel now at the helm.
Both Marco and winemaker Gabriele Tami prioritise respecting the terroir and native grapes of the region, honouring the varietals that Friuli is famed for. Their plantings include very old vineyards with indigenous grapes including Refosco, Friulano and Ribolla Gialla.
