The Colonial Estate is based in the Barossa Valley and merges a French winemaking approach to classic Aussie fruit. Founded in 2002, the Estate started by buying small blocks of vineyards in the northern ‘arc’ of the Barossa, focusing on 120 year-old dry-grown vines that have never suffered from Phylloxera.

Today, the estate has grown significantly from the 700 cases it produced in its first vintage, but the big idea is still the same: pick the best fruit, sort it rigorously, ferment it in a traditional style and age in French oak.

The wines are classic Barossa: rich, full-throttle and intense but the exclusive use of French oak ensures there is a refinement and elegance on the palate.
